Education Programs Manager – Job No. 0811
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum is currently considering applicants for the position of Education Programs Manager. The Education Program Manager reports to the Director of Education and is responsible for furthering the educational mission of the Museum by assisting with developing and implementing the Museum’s educational and public programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Conducts educational programs for pre-K to 12th grade at the Museum and other sites including:
- In-Museum programs for students such as tours, classes (i.e. Rockin’ the Schools) and musical performances.
- Professional development opportunities for teachers including the Summer Teacher Institute and Teachers Rock.
- Outreach programs for students including on-stage performances, assemblies, workshops and artist residencies.
- Teaching in distance learning studio in front of and behind camera.
2. Produces curriculum materials and manages programs.
- Assists in creating lesson plans and program materials in a variety of formats which may include print materials, videos, on-line services, etc.
- Coordinates academic content standards with K-12 schools
- Works with designers, printers, programmers, etc. in the production of materials.
- Assists in creation of education web site and furnishes content on an on-going basis.
- Coordinates all logistical aspects of facility use including but not limited to pricing, registration, parking, bus drop off, group admission/express entry, facility set-up, food and beverage.
- Coordinates speaker/performer contacts and arrangements.
3. Supports other Museum departments as needed. Responsibilities may include coordinating lectures; concerts and developing printed programs and/or materials.
4. Works on special projects and performs other necessary duties as assigned by the Vice President of Education
Duties include but may not be limited to the above.
JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, music, museum administration or related field required. Master’s degree and music performance experience preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years professional experience in educational programming or K-12 teaching.
- Prior experience developing and implementing museum education curriculum, planning educational programming and drafting education program proposals and materials.
- Experience working with public and private schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions to coordinate education programming.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to play an instrument for education programs is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with educators and employees.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Ability to successfully pass a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum reference check, background investigation and drug screening.
- Computer Literate: Microsoft Products, especially PowerPoint; Database Management
- Ability to get along with other people.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Ability to work at least 40 hours per week; any shift as assigned, including evenings, weekends and holidays. Ability to work additional hours as workload demands. Hours are primarily 8:30 am – 5:30 pm Monday through Friday.
